They are well on the way to being clean in the house since they, for the most part, use their pee pads. Not bad for 4 week old puppies - I'm very impressed.
We increased the size of the puppy quarters this weekend - we layed a tarp over the wood floor and setup an x-pen. There is much gleeful terrorizing of each other and the toys provided for their amusement. I must say, it is far more amusing watching "Puppy TV" then it is watching regular TV!

Puppies are gaining 1 - 2 oz a day which is right on the mark. Kweeba is developing a voracious appetite. She is especially fond of the Nature's Variety of raw and kibble, as well as Taste of The Wild and Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul - all of which are good products.
Pups are 3 Days old in these pictures and their weights are listed at the bottom left of their pictures. You will see a front view and a side view. We will monitor weights and weight every second day to keep track of their growth. Today we begin Early Neurological Stimulation, otherwise know as the "Super Puppy Program" or "Bio Sensor Program designed by the US Military. These exercises expose the pups to small stressors which have been shown to have the following five benefits: a) improved cardio-vascular system, b) stronger heart beat, c) stronger adrenal glands, d) more tolerance to stress, and e) greater resistance to disease. The idea is to do this when they are developing between 3 - 16 days old, so they will be able to cope with stressors better as adults. Please see Dr. Carmen Battaglia's website for more information.
I have also placed a downloadable PDF on the Breeding Plans page that outlines these excercises. Kweeba gave birth to 5 puppies in the wee hours this morning :) The pictures are a bit blurry, I didn't want to stress out mom and pups - I'll take more pictures when the pups are 3 days old and sort out which are boys and which are girls :) There are two boys and three girls :) Kweeba should have her pups between today and the 19th - I'll keep the blog posted.
