The puppies are gaining steadily, at least 50g each (I've switched to grams since it's much easier for my head to wrap around :) - but I promise to provide oz as well!
Colors are tricky at this young age so our best guess (apart from the black and white pups) is as follows. The genders might be a guess as well, since I have had more than one baby animal change sex on me unexpectedly!
3 boys and 4 girls black and white tricolor - female - 10 3/4oz black and white tricolor - male - head spot - 10 5/8oz possible red/sable - male - 12 1/2oz possible red/sable - female 10 7/8oz yellow - lighter colored female - 10 1/8oz yellow - male - head spot (markings on head close to the spot) - 13oz yellow - female - head spot, shoulder stripe - 11 3/4oz Well, Kweeba disagreed and decided that the 16th was a better choice :) After a cursory look (I don't like to disturb mom and babies bonding), it looks like we have 3 boys and 4 girls. 2 Tricolors and 5 Reds. This litter should have a theme of "SURPRISE!".
This is, in truth, a planned litter, only the dates were brought forward... by 18 months. SIGH! Kweeba is in extremely good health and our Reproductive Vet said that he was not at all concerned about her health or carrying the litter the term. In light of the fact that Skundi is too young for the OFA hip x-rays to be taken, we have opted to use PennHip as a diagnostic tool and I will advise of the results once we have accomplished that. For now, we wait patiently for the birth of the babies, somewhere around the 18th, I think. We'll see whether or not Kweeba agrees :)
